Channeled Water
by Robert Becker
The water flows through the channel
seals, fish and ducks call their home.
Tide from salty sea water constantly adjusting
floating docks lining the walkway by flowers in bloom.
Electric boats and yachts moored at the docks
indicating wealth of those living on shore.
A constant flurry of activity as geriatric walkers
exercise course and much more.
Some would say it’s how the other half lives
though I seriously doubt it’s anywhere near half.
There’s a maximum 5 mile per hour speed limit
so boats don’t create wakes or give paddle boarders a bath.
Sea gulls constantly fly over keeping watch
over all the activity going on below
and occasionally land and perch on the boats
causing havoc when they poop on the bow.
As outsiders we enjoy seeing the seals play
although residents think they’re a pest.
So that covers the sights of a channel island walk,
a Pisces’ view of channeled water at its best.
